July seems to have flown past, taking in The National Show ‘wash up’ meeting, some prep for Crouch Valley’s Show, alongside some committee discussion around The World Koi Federation.
Talking about The National; Matt our Show Chair has emailed the numerous trades that attended, asking for feedback - Matt tells me he does have a few improvements on his list already, so if you have anything you'd like to add, do get in touch.
Essentially, the Singapore Koi Club are looking to create a World Koi Federation, and at this stage we have deferred any decision to our 2025 AGM.
I’m all for the promotional aspect of our hobby, as are our committees, however we remain somewhat unsure about any real benefit - if anyone would like further information, please let me know.
Bernie Woollands (JSC) and I have been completing some work on our improved JSC website; we should be publishing some further useful content in our Members Area over the coming weeks.
Last weekend saw Crouch Valley’s Koi Show take place; a great weekend in Essex, here's the Grand Champion:
If you know me, you know Showa Sanshoku are one of my favourite varieties; it's also really positive to see other varieties being awarded.
Looking through the records (The National Koi Show), you have to go back to 1990 when the last Showa owner lifted the GC Trophy (Joe Wilmington). It was a little bit more recent at The All England Koi Show; 2012 saw Scott Jenkins taking the coveted award.
I should be heading out to Holland for the NVN Dutch Koi Show, if you’re going, I’ll see you there.
If not, whatever you are up to, stay safe and enjoy the hobby.
