Historically Sections were formed when a group of BKKS members formed a Koi Club, and it was a requirement that to be a member of the local Section, you were also required to be a BKKS member. Over the years this requirement has been modified to the point whereby a Section is only required to have 1 BKKS member.

It is worth noting the many things the BKKS provide are already set up and available to the Sections.

• The Society website provides contact details for Sections, and current ongoing developments of our new website are also taking into consideration how we can further assist the Sections in terms of communication and self-promotion
• The BKKS National Koi Show also provides the opportunity for Sections to promote themselves, both by attending, and having free craft stand space on the showground, or other suitable location
• We provide funding to support the training of BKKS Judges, who are then available for Section shows and, with arrangement, club talks

We identified that the only logical way forward was to set a simple annual affiliation fee for Sections, which would reflect what was actually provided and the costs incurred.

During 2017's Annual General Meeting, it was agreed that we simplify our costs to Sections, alongside the subsequent benefits. It was important to us that this took place in consultation with the Sections, rather than being dictated by the Society.

• Sections will pay an annual fee of £200, which includes insurance cover. or a reduced fee of £150 for early payment (i.e. by the end of February)
• There will no longer be a requirement for the Section to have “x” number of BKKS members (only one member of a Section must be a member of the BKKS)
• Each Section will be able to send one representative to the National Committee Meetings – this person has to be a BKKS member, and can be the individual indicated above
• Sections will be entitled to hire non-electrical equipment, if available and at a charge, alongside travel costs for the Equipment Officer
• To assist Sections who hold shows, we have gone back to the charge per vat for BKKS Judges, currently only £6 per vat (increasing to £9.00 in 2025)

JSC Allocation Officer & BKKS Judges

As mentioned previously, the BKKS provide a dedicated Judge Allocation Officer, for our Sections that organise koi shows.  Our Allocation Office should be contacted 4 weeks prior to your show, and our Allocation Officer will liaise with the JSC, organising relevant Judge attendance

Public Liability Insurance

£5 Million Public Liability insurance provided to any Section; which can be used to cover open or closed shows, Section trips, meetings, or pond visits

Non Electrical Equipment Hire

Sections will be able to hire non electrical equipment, duly assisting with shows or other Section events. Hire costs for this scheme were increased in 2023, and this benefit, whilst available, remains under review

Free craft stand, or other suitable showground location, in order to promote your Section

If you would like your Club to become a Section of the BKKS, then all you need to do is apply via email to chairman@bkks.co.uk providing as much information as possible, about your Club and its activities.

Your application to become a Section of the BKKS will then be considered at the next available Committee Meeting.
