Birmingham to Belgium…

April was manic, please accept my apologies for the delay with April’s Blog.  Preparations for our AGM, the AGM itself, along with the culminating actions all require focus and effort.

The AGM went well, with representation from our Sections (always nice to see), our committees alongside a handful of members - AGM Minutes and other documentation will be published in our Members Area shortly.

Unfortunately, our AGM documentation is slightly delayed; agenda, minutes and any resulting actions should be published within 28 days of the AGM (12th May 2024).

The delay is purely due to us not meeting as a committee until next week, rest assured we will publish these as soon as possible.

I managed to get away for a long weekend in Belgium, you could say ‘work related’ and given I was visiting a European hobbyist, who was exhibiting at the Belgium Koi Show - Coventry to Belgium didn’t have the same ring to it!

It was a great weekend, and not a show I have visited previously; we stayed for the show BBQ on the Saturday, and I managed to catch up with one or two UK hobbyists who were also visiting for the weekend, alongside a number of our JSC (Judging Standards Committee) who were in attendance.

The Grand Champion was a 91cm Sakai Fish Farm Kohaku, aptly named Miss Dynamite:

Thoughts now turn to The National Show, and as you might imagine, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes; from exhibitor vat allocations, to final trade stand bookings and show team accommodation - don’t let anyone tell you putting on a show is easy.

The National Show have introduced a couple of new awards this year, and I'm pleased to say that I will be awarding a Society Chairman’s Sakura Award - keep an eye on our Show Social’s for all the news over the coming weeks.

Hopefully with Summer finally here, I hope you are all outside enjoying all that our hobby has to offer, until next month.
